In the grand tradition of the slasher film we present… a sequel.
Now that we have the history and characteristics of the slasher subgenre covered, it’s time to pick some movies to discuss. Although these films have been steadily slicing their way to movie screens for decades we chose to pay tribute to the key period of the early 80′s with our selections (which nicely leaves room for a part 3). The picks were pretty random and are by no means meant to represent anything more than a demonstration of the variety (and arguably lack of variety) of what was offered in the day.
Titles include: The Prowler, Maniac Cop, Silent Rage, The Burning, Slumber Party Massacre (and part 2), The Mutilator, April Fools Day, House on Sorority Row, Sleepaway Camp and a couple modern picks Wrong Turn and Reeker.
We have relocated to a local pub patio for this week’s show so please bear with the change in audio (hopefully the unexpected bird dive bomb makes up for it). Classic slasher flicks and pints – a winning combination.
